A fire broke out in the Karnataka State Cricket Association clubhouse in the wee hours in Bangalore today destroying documents, among other things, fireforce officials said.

"There were no casualties. Old documents and furniture were gutted in the fire", they said.

Four fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire in about an hour.

Officials said the fire could have occurred because of short-circuit. However, the exact cause is still being ascertained.

A series of fire accidents have rocked the country's IT hub over the past few months.

On April 12, a bar and restaurant on the terrace of a three-storey commercial building was gutted in a fire in the busy Residency Road but there was no casualty. A fire tragedy at the Carlton Towers on February 23 claimed nine lives and injured many others.
