Chandrakant Barot, the 62-year-old supporter of Anna Hazare, was late on Wednesday night forcibly taken to hospital by police after his ECG reports showed abnormal readings.

Police had to take him to hospital after Barot refused to be hospitalised though doctors termed his condition as serious.

Barot was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of VS Hospital. Barot was on fast near Town Hall since August 16, the day Hazare kicked off his fast in New Delhi.

In the afternoon, a team of doctors had visited him and reported that he had developed low blood pressure. A detailed report on his complete diagnosis was awaited.

But at night the doctors came calling him again and asked him to get admitted immediately. Barot's supporters persuaded him to break his fast and get himself admitted.

A staunch believer of corruption-free society, Barot however had given in writing to the team of doctors in the afternoon that he should in no circumstances get himself hospitalised till the Jan Lokpal Bill matter was resolved.

"The doctors were called by my fellow supporters and they insisted that I should get myself admitted to the hospital. However, I have refused. They refused to carry out the necessary treatment here, where I am fasting," Barot had said in the afternoon.
Sanjay Joshi, a fellow supporter of Barot, said in the afternoon:

"Barotji experienced slight chest pain late on Tuesday night and then on Wednesday morning, he complained of giddiness. We called doctors who came only after three requests. The doctors declared that he was suffering from low blood pressure and his sugar levels reported at 57 at afternoon also dropped considerably.”
