Bootleggers are tricking cops by ferrying illicit liquor in fancy cars! However, police officials caught two illicit consignments of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs2.38 lakh in Ahmedabad rural area in the wee hours of Saturday.

Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Ahmedabad district police caught liquor consignments from two different places in separate cases.
In one case, LCB officials nabbed a duo identified as Dhaval Jaiswal, 29, a resident of Himmatnagar and his cousin Vihar Jaiswal, 30, from Bhuj.

Police said that the duo were carrying 32 crates containing 144 bottles of whiskey of various brands and 576 beer canes in a Ford Fiesta car. They had brought the consignment from one Ashok Singh Kothari in Rajasthan. Kothari is wanted in 50 prohibition cases. The duo was caught at SP Ring Road near Sarkhej police station area.

The second consignment was held on Bavla-Bagodara Highway in which LCB sleuths arrested one Jethumal Regar, 30, and his accomplice Dilip Sen, 34, both residents of Devgadh in Rajasthan. Police said that the duo was carrying 28 crates of IMFL of different brands worth Rs1.34 lakh.

"We were surprised to find the consignments being ferried in cars like Ford Fiesta which of course is a new modus operandi. Around a month earlier, we had caught similar consignment which was
being ferried in Skoda," said DJ Chavda, LCB police inspector.
