False abductor alarms gallore in Ahmedabad

It seems that every stranger, beggar, mentally disabled person or labourer roaming the city's streets is being labelled a kidnapper by Amdavadis.

Another 'kidnapping' was reported from Saraspur area on Wednesday when Iqbal Pathan called up the police control room to share some information about 'kidnappers' in an autorickshaw who were trying to abduct kids from areas near schools. According to Pathan, a 12-year-old girl was stopped near IndiaBulls Mall by a couple travelling in an autorickshaw.

Shaherkotda police immediately reached the spot only to discover that the girl was in her school. Cops rang up her mother to seek queries about any attempted kidnap, but she denied any knowledge of the same.

Further inquiry into the matter revealed that the school watchman spotted a couple talking to the girl, which led him to think that they were kidnappers.

According to sources, the girl confirmed to police that the couple only asked her about an address. Based on the description given by locals, police even found an auto in that area but it was learned that the auto has been lying there for days as the owner is out of town.
