Students of SAL institute of technology & engineering research have built a 2.5-km-long track for a Formula 1 robo race to be held as part of the institute's two-day tech-festival, SALCON-2012. The track was inaugurated on Monday. The theme of this year's tech-festival is 'Direction towards Innovation'.
The robo race will be held in 3 categories -F1 race, Racer Mania and 2.5-km-long F1 race. There is a proposal to nominate the 2.5-km-long track for the Limca Book of Records in the robotic events category.
Other interesting events at the two-day fest which are expected to see participation by a large number of students are Witch Hunt (for circuit debugging); Logo-D-Intentio (logo designing); Web-o-Propositium (web designing) and Code Clash (programming), among others. Debates and presentations on
technical subjects are also planned.
Speaking at the inauguration of the robo race track, principal of the institute, Rupesh Vasani, congratulated all the students who were participating in the tech-fest.
Dr Rajendra Shah, chairman, SAL group, said "SALCON 2012 is the best platform for students to showcase their technical knowledge and expertise and also exchange knowledge in different areas. I am looking forward to the best technical presentations from students. We have also planned a job fair," he said.
SAL Institute, with the support of Gujarat Technological University, will be holding a job fair for all students of institutes affiliated to GTU.
