A gang of extortionists, operating under the garb of a house-keeping service agency, was busted by police after the gang tried to blackmail a bank manager living in South Delhi.

The banker Manoj Sood lodged a complaint on Friday stating that his maid and her accomplices were demanding Rs3.7 lakh to settle a false allegation of rape levelled by her against him.

HGS Dhaliwal, deputy police commissioner of South Delhi said that Sood employed the maid, Shweta from the agency Royal Domestic Centre at his home. But he was not happy with her conduct, and called up the agency and asked them to send another maid.

However, on Wednesday, the agency owner, Monirujjanam Molla, called up Sood asking him to pay up Rs3.7 lakh. Molla allegedly threatened to file a rape case against him if he refused to pay the amount.

Dhaliwal said the police laid a trap with Sood’s help to catch the gang members red-handed. Sood went to the office of Hemant Kumar Bardal, Molla’s lawyer, to give the amount and got Molla and Bardal caught red-handed by undercover cops.
