Experts in Ahmedabad discuss ways to reduce risk during disasters

A Europe-based NGO named FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance organised a one-day seminar in the city, on the subject of risk reduction during natural calamities.

Held at a city-based hotel, the conference aimed at bringing together people from different professional spheres, to discuss practical methods of risk reduction at the local and national level during contingencies.

Representatives from GSDMA, Red Cross, Unicef, Sphere India, Nabard, the United Nations Disaster Management Team, and various NGOs and others participated in the conference.

The representatives of all these fora discussed their ideas on how to reduce human and property loss during natural calamities such as earthquakes, floods, cyclones and others.

The NGO will submit a final report of the conference to the state government as well as the central government, for practical implementation of the ideas exchanged during the conference.
