With dug-up lanes posing a threat to public, a senior Jammu and Kashmir official today called for early restoration of roads in the old city area here in view of heavy rains lashing the region.

Divisional commissioner, Jammu, Pawan Kotwal called for expediting restoration of roads, lanes and by-lanes dug up for laying sewer lines. He said the work had already suffered due to incessant rains and any further delay could lead to public outcry.

Kotwal, who is also chairman of coordination committee for implementation of various Jawaharlal Nehru National Rural Urban Mission (JNNRUM) schemes, was speaking at the committee meeting convened to review the pace of progress on the laying of sewer lines in the old city area.

Kotwal also asked the officials to prepare estimates of the pending works and submit the same for funding. He set August 23 as deadline for submission of the estimates.
