Apparent examination stress has claimed yet another life in Ahmedabad. An 18-year-old student is believed to have committed suicide because of examination tension.

The boy, Sanjay Chauhan, a resident of Rawal Ni Chali, Asarwa, who was to appear for Class X examination, was found hanging from the ceiling of a room in his house on Monday afternoon. With this case, the total number of young deaths from suicides due to exam fear has risen to four this year.

Shahibaug police who are investigating the case said that they have not found any suicide note, but prima facie it appears that the student ended his life due to examination tension.

Sanjay had appeared for Class X examination twice but was unable to pass on both occasions. This year, he had taken admission at the Municipal School at Asarwa and was due to appear for the Class X board examination slated from March 4.

Raghu Bhai, investigating officer and police constable from Shahibaug police station said, "Police have started the investigations. Prima facie it appears that Sanjay was  suffering from depression and could not concentrate on his studies."

Shahibaug police further said that Sanjay's father Soma Bhai Chauhan is an autorickshaw driver and his elder brother ekes out a living by working at a private firm. On Monday afternoon around 1 pm when Sanjay's elder brother reached home he found that the door of one room was closed. With the help of his neighbours, he broke open the door only to find Sanjay hanging from the ceiling.

The boy was rushed to Civil hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Shahibaug police station PI, JH Panchal said, "Police have registered a case in this connection and started the investigation."
