Etihad flight diverted to Bangalore

An Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi was today diverted to Bangalore following heavy fog at the Chennai airport.

The plane with 147 passengers on board was scheduled to land at 0520 hrs but was diverted to Bangalore following heavy fog. It flew back to Chennai after the fog cleared, officials said.

Meanwhile, the CISF, entrusted with airport security, has tightened access control following a crude explosive being found in a Kingfisher aircraft that arrived in Thiruvananthapuram from Bangalore on Sunday.

Passengers, both international and domestic, were allowed entry into the airport only after producing identity proof, officials said.
