A local court today directed Srikanth Joshi, an accused in the APIIC-Emaar Properties scam, to appear before the CBI to face the questioning.

Joshi, former chief executive officer of Emaar MGF Land Ltd who has been chargesheeted in the case, had filed an anticipatory bail plea in the special CBI court last week.

Joshi's lawyer submitted that his client was ready to present himself before the CBI, following which the court today allowed the agency to question him between 9 am to 5 pm for five days from March 5. The court said that Joshi would not be arrested till the plea was disposed of.

The hearing on the anticipatory bail would take place on March 14. According to CBI, there were financial irregularities in the sale of land and villa/plots at the integrated township project at Gachibowli here, being developed by Emaar PJSC.

Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC), which holds stake in the project, suffered a loss because of fraudulent transactions, the CBI claims.

Seven persons and five companies have been chargesheeted in the case.
