Eight Indians accused of killing Pakistani pay blood money

Eight Indians facing trial in Dubai for allegedly killing a Pakistani youth paid blood money to the victim’s father who agreed to a compromise and pardoned them, a move that may help the accused escape the gallows.

“We arranged the visit of the victim Mumtaz Yusuf’s father Mohd Yusuf to Dubai. He appeared in court and said he has pardoned those involved,” Dubai-based hotelier and businessman SP Singh Oberoi, who paid the money on behalf of the accused, said.

Mumtaz Yousuf died after a group clash in 2009. Ten youths, eight Indians and two Pakistanis, were tried for killing him. The compromise papers have been handed over to Sharjah’s shariah court.
