Dutch man arrested for uploading material on child sex abuse

Chennai: A Dutch national staying in India for the past 30 years was arrested following an Interpol alert for allegedly uploading materials on child sexual abuse on the internet.

He was arrested on Friday under different provisions of the IT (Amendement Act) 2008 and remanded to 15 days judicial custody,M Sudhakar, assistant commissioner, Cyber Crime, said.

Williams has been accused of uploading the content on the internet using a particular website. Police here came to know of it through Interpol, who were informed of his activities by a German organisation working against child exploitation.

"A Computer hard disc, 20 CDs, a memory card and a laptop were recovered from Williams during his arrest. He told investigators he is a social worker, but there is a similar charge against him in the Mahabalipuram police station," Sudhakar said in a press release here.
