The Kalupur police officials caught two people for allegedly duping loan seekers on Wednesday. The duo is said to have cheated nearly 50 people in the name of providing fast and hassle-free loans. The police recovered 50 cheques from them and  revealed that the crooks have accumulated Rs9 lakh by cheating people.

An FIR has been lodged with Kalupur police in the matter.
Cops said that the pair, identified as Darshan Rana alias Bablu, 21, and Sanjay Rana, 46, residents of Kalupur, had published an advertisement in newspapers promising quick and hassle-free loans. They had only published their cell numbers without mentioning any office address.

"They never met the customers. Instead, they would ask them to send their documents through courier. After receiving the documents, they used to demand a lump sum amount as their commission and processing fee. Thereafter, they would stop communicating with their customers," police said.

According to the cops, the duo got busted after one of the loan seekers from Surat got suspicious. They said that the Surat-based businessman had called them asking for loan worth Rs15 lakh. After negotiations, the businessman sent Rs1 lakh to them via courier. However, but even after 15 days his loan was not cleared, he called them back.

Police say that the pair again demanded Rs30,000 from him, which increased the businessman's doubts. He sent them a man with the money, along with the courier. This time, however, the duo was called to a place near Ratanpur in Kalupur to collect the cash - with the cops already being informed. As soon as the duo arrived to collect the money, police nabbed them.

Following interrogation, the cops seized 50 cheques signed by different people. Police said that the duo confessed to have taken Rs9 lakh from dozens of people but never disbursed any loans to them.
