A day after the freak accident on SG highway, police arrested the driver of the  Chevrolet car which had jumped 15 feet off the road after hitting a divider at a very high speed.

On Friday, Vastrapur police arrested Vasu Raval, a resident of Kadi in Mehsana district, for rash driving and causing accident on Thursday afternoon near Rajpath Club. He was arrested after car owner Kiran Gajjar filed a compliant against him. According to Gajjar, Vasu works as their driver, and he was the only passenger travelling in the car at the time of accident.

Gajjar, a resident of Kirtisagar apartment in Satellite, told the police that Vasu works as their driver and they were going towards Thaltej when the accident happened. According to Vasu, a two-wheeler suddenly came from other side of the road and jumped the divider and came straight in the path of his speeding car. Vasu applied brakes and turned the car towards the divider to save the motorcyclist, which caused the freak accident.

Police also denied the claims of an unidentified person, who claimed that the car hit him near Sarkhej, after which the driver tried to escape by speeding the car.

According to Vastrapur police, both Vasu and Gajjar had not fled from the spot, but went to hospital to get medical help for their injuries.
