Dreaded gangster and close aide of Dawood Ibrahim, Brajesh Singh has moved a discharge application in the 1993 arms smuggling case. He was brought to the state after the Detection of Crime Branch took his custody in connection with the case. He was subsequently booked under various sections in several cases including the Radhika Gymkhana massacre case.

Singh on Saturday moved a discharge application before the sessions court. In the application Singh alleged that the police have no evidence against him to show his involvement in the case. The hearing in the application is scheduled for next week.

The DCB in the recently filed chargesheet against Singh has alleged that he had in 1993 smuggled AK 47 from the city to different parts of the country. The investigation in the case has revealed that when the arms and ammunition landed at Ghosabara in 1993, Singh had taken a part of the consignment, which he had subsequently distributed across the city. The said arms which landed at Gosabara from Karachi were later supplied to Mumbai and were used in the serial blast of 1993.

The gangster has also been accused of sheltering the now dead underworld don Abdul Latif in Uttar Pradesh. Latif had escaped to Uttar Pradesh after the state police bust a racket of arms supply to Gujarat to spread terror in order to avenge the Babri demolition.
Singh is also accused of helping Latif go to Pakistan and of disposing off the arms cache provided by Latif.

The crime branch has also booked Singh in the infamous Radhika Gymkhana massacre case in Odhav and the loot and murder of a Mehsana-based trader. In these cases also the police have already filed a chargesheet. However, sources close to Singh stated that he may move similar application in theses cases as well as the police has not achieved much success in gathering evidences against him.
