Digvijay Singh meets Jagan, party leaders

According to sources, YSR loyalists are understood to have told Rao that if Jagan was not made the chief minister they would not hesitate to resign from their posts.

AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh today met Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's son Jagan Mohan but remained tight-lipped on whether he was carrying any message from Congress high command. Singh, who met the Reddys at YSR's camp office in Begumpet here, said his visit was to console the bereaved family.

Asked if he conveyed any message from Congress high command in the backdrop of a campaign by Jagan's supporters for making him the chief minister, the AICC leader said it was "merely a courtesy call" and refused to divulge any other details on the visit.

"I am not in-charge of Andhra Pradesh affairs," he said when pressed further on the issue. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah, APCC president D Srinivas, former APCC president Keshav Rao and Rajya Sabha MP KVP Ramachandra Rao also met Singh at the Lake View Guest House.

Keshav Rao after meeting the AICC General Secretary told reporters that he discussed the present political situation with Singh. Meanwhile, before the swearing in ceremony, the ministers met at the residence of Ramachander Rao, a close aide of late YSR, to discuss the leadership issue.

According to sources, YSR loyalists are understood to have told Rao that if Jagan was not made the Chief Minister they would not hesitate to resign from their posts. Later, the ministers including six women, left for Raj Bhavan to take oath.
