Wednesday brought relief to Surat and Surtis, even as the atmosphere changed completely due to a formation of depression in the Arabian Sea. Temperatures fell and there were nominal showers during the day, accompanied by winds.

Clouds gripped the entire city since early in the morning, giving Surtis some much-needed respite from the sweltering heat.
Minor showers followed, with cloud formation, leaving people surprised. However, many in the city mistook the depression effect and thought the rains to be the first showers of monsoon. The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 35.6°C, while minimum temperature remained at 29.6°C.

Four mm of rain was recorded in the city on Wednesday.
The entire day was pleasant. Surtis could see the sun only after 5:30 pm, after clouds got disbursed owing to winds blowing at 6km/hour, south-west. Citizens enjoyed the day and the first showers, even if it was only due to depression.

No unwanted situation occurred in coastal villages near Surat, as predicted by the Met department. However, the Met has issued an alert for 48 hours. The district administration and civic body continued to spread awareness in areas falling under the
depression radar.
