Delhi teen killed in scuffle with schoolmate

Vipin, 16, a resident of Roop Nagar in North Delhi, died at Bada Hindu Rao Hospital late last night after he suffered injuries in a fight with a Class VIII student.

A 16-year-old student died in the national capital yesterday after an alleged scuffle with a schoolmate and his friends, police said today. 

Vipin, 16, a resident of Roop Nagar in North Delhi, died during treatment at Bada Hindu Rao Hospital late last night after he suffered injuries in a fight with a Class VIII
student and his friends. The victim and the accused were not on good terms and regularly got into fights. Both of them studied in a government school in Roop Nagar.

According to a senior police official, Vipin and the accused had a fight when the victim was cleaning his father's car near his residence last evening. "Both of them were pacified and the accused was sent back. However, later in the night around 8:30pm, the
accused and his friends picked a fight with Vipin," the official said.

The accused and the victim exchanged punches, he said adding that Vipin became unconscious and the accused fled the spot. Locals rushed Vipin to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

"There are no visible injuries. No weapon was used. The body has been sent for post mortem and we are awaiting the report," the official said.

The schoolmate has been detained.
