A man today allegedly stabbed his former girlfriend and her companion after he was asked to leave the house he was sharing with the two women, police said.

Twenty-six-year-old Shankar Thapa and 24-year-old Virgina Shenpin were in a relationship and had been staying together in Gautam Vihar area of Hauz Khas in south Delhi. Shenpin's friend Adreline, 23, was also staying with them.

Police said Thapa and Shenpin, who had apparently returned from China and were preparing for a Medical Council of India examination, had a break-up three days back after which Thapa was asked to go out of the house.

They were living in the house since last month.

Today, Thapa returned to the house in the morning on the pretext of taking his belongings and tried convincing his former girlfriend, police said.

When she refused to listen to him, he attacked the woman twice with a knife. When Ardeline came to the resuce of her friend, he stabbed her too, they said.

"Once the women started crying for help, he fled from the spot. The police control room received a call from the women and they were taken to Safdarjung Hospital where they are said to be stable," a senior police officer said.
