The Congress party on Wednesday steered clear of questions whether the Delhi blast was a result of intelligence failure or lack of preparedness.

The party said this should be asked of the home ministry.

"The home ministry can give a better reply to this question... this question should be asked from home ministry," said party spokesperson Rashid Alvi when asked whether the incident occurred due to intelligence failure and why the CCTV cameras were not working at the high court.

He also dismissed questions on whether Home Minister P Chidambaram should resign after the blast saying "this does not seem very appropriate in this situation."

Alvi said that he does not agree with the contentions that the government did not take adequate steps to tackle terror.

"Government has taken many significant steps. There is no lack in the government's efforts but whatever incidents are happening are unfortunate... If needed, the government will take more efforts. Such incidents do not affect one party or government but the entire nation... it's a time of crisis," he said.
