Dearness allowance hike for pensioners in Bihar

The hike, based on the pattern of central government, would be effective from July 1, 2009.

The Bihar government has decided to increase the dearness allowance for state government pensioners from 22% to 27% to benefit around 2.5 lakh pensioners and family pensioners.
    
A decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet at its meeting here late last evening, state cabinet department's principal secretary Grisih Shankar said today.
    
The hike, based on the pattern of central government, would be effective from July 1, 2009, Shankar said.
    
He said the cabinet also increased the DA from 64 to 73% of all such state government employees whose salaries had not been revised. The nine per cent increase would also be effective from July 1, 2009, Shankar added.
       
In another major decision, the cabinet cleared the appointment of public prosecutors in 34 out of 38 districts, he informed.
