Dalit woman gang-raped in Uttar Pradesh

A Dalit woman was allegedly gang-raped by two youths at Makhiyali village under new Mandi police station in the district, police said here today.

The woman had gone out to relieve herself when two youths forcibly took her to nearby fields and gang-raped her.

They also threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed the matter to anyone, they said, adding later the accused escaped.

The irate villagers held a protest against the incident.

A search is on to nab the accused, police said.
