Daddu decided to kill Yafiz a month ago

A day after the gruesome murder of Yafizuddin Shaikh by Daddu Vaghela, crime branch officials have learnt that the latter used to keep a close watch on the former before attacking and killing him. Primary investigations have revealed that Daddu, a notorious bootlegger, decided to kill Yafiz a month ago after Yafiz had scolded him.

According to crime branch officials, Daddu Vaghela and Yafizuddin's friend Harry were close to each other. Two months ago, a resident of Amraiwadi approached Harry to convince Daddu to return his abducted son. Harry asked Daddu to provide information regarding the abducted child or release him if possible. Angered at Harry's act, Daddu attacked him with a knife and severed relationship with him. In the meantime, Yafiz came to know about this scuffle. Taking Harry's side, Yafiz approached Daddu and scolded him for assaulting Harry.

Police officials believe that Daddu made up his mind to kill Yafiz after that tussle and asked one of his men to keep a close watch on his movements. On Saturday night, Jignesh, one of Daddu's men, spotted Yafiz near Bal Bhavan at Khokhra. He immediately called Daddu who arrived with seven to 10 men and stabbed Yafiz more than 70 times. They even ran a car over Yafiz to ensure that he's dead.

Crime branch officials believe that more than ten people might have been involved in the murder. Police demanded a 14-day custody of all the accused including Daddu but the court granted them only six days custody.
