Dad kidnaps witness to daughter's marriage in Gujarat

A man has been accused of kidnapping a youth who was a witness at his daughter's wedding. Bharat Patel, a resident of Rameshwar Society in Kadi taluka of Gandhinagar, did not approve of his daughter Parul marrying her lover Darshan.

She anyways went ahead and married Darshan, a transport company employee, in a civil ceremony on May 18, 2011. In anger, her father along with his fried Ratna Desai, a resident of Kadi, kidnapped one Chirag Patel, who had been the witness to Parul and Darshan's court marriage.Chirag was kidnapped from the Income Tax crossroads on Tuesday evening. 

Darshan and Parul lived in Ahmedabad following their wedding.
After kidnapping Chirag, Bharat made a call to Darshan's father. He agreed to let go Chirag in return for his daughter Parul.

Chirag is being kept at some undisclosed location in Kadi and a police team from Navrangpura has left for Kadi to trace the victim.
“A police complaint in this connection has been filed with Navrangpura police station and we are investigating the case,” a police sub inspector told DNA.

“According to the FIR, Bharat and his friend Ratna are the key accused in the case and we will arrest them soon,” a police source said.
