A CBI team which will visit London to seek extradition of Navy war room leak case accused Ravi Shankaran, will also gather details related to the Queen’s Baton Relay (QBR) contract for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

The agency is probing irregularities in award of contracts for logistics for the QBR held in England in the run-up to CWG.  Congress MP and former CWG Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi is one of the key suspects in the case. The CBI’s probe had hit a roadblock in September as it did not receive the “required and substantial” information from the Scotland Yard in the case. The investigation agency has sent a couple of Letters Rogatory to UK authorities seeking details about companies that had been given contract by the Organising Committee for the QBR.

“Our team will assist the UK authorities in facilitating the extradition of Shankaran. It will also meet Scotland Yard officials to dig out information on the case,” a CBI officer said.
