Curfew was today imposed in a village in the district where tension prevailed following the abduction of a local tribal community leader.

Mohan Lal Meena, who had unsuccessfully contested the last panchayat elections at Sarada village, has gone missing, police had said, adding the role of one Sahjad Khan Saradi was suspected in the incident.

Over three hundred policemen have been posted to the village, they said, adding the SP and Collector of Udaipur were also camping in the area.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that Meena was killed, although ASP Rawat said police is trying to ascertain the news and teams have been sent to trace the missing.

Raghuveer Singh Meena, MP of Udaipur, had yesterday reached Sarada and persuaded the tribals to return after they had gathered at a local police station when they received the news of the abduction.
