CRPF man shot dead by militants in Kashmir

A CRPF man was shot dead by militants at a busy market place in Budgam district of central Kashmir this evening, triggering panic among people.
    
Head constable Mohar Singh of 176th battalion of CRPF was on patrol duty when the ultras shot him from point blank range at Magam market, about 25 km from here on Srinagar-Gulmarg road, official sources said.
   
The incident occured at around 6.30 pm when there was heavy rush in the market, they said.
    
Singh, who received a bullet in the head, died instantly in the attack which sparked panic among the people, the sources said, adding his colleagues exercised restraint to avoid civilian casualities.
    
No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
    
Reinforcements of police and CRPF immediately rushed to the scene and the whole area was cordoned off to nab the militants responsibile for the attack.
