Crop over 1.35 lakh hectare damaged in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh

Crop over 1.35 lakh hectares of land was damaged in the recent rains and the cyclone in the East Godavari district affecting over 3.50 lakh farmers, collector M Ravichandra said today.

Crop over 1.35 lakh hectares of land was damaged in the recent rains and the cyclone in the East Godavari district affecting over 3.50 lakh farmers, collector M Ravichandra said today.

He said paddy crop was the worst hit as it is extensively grown here followed by sugarcane and cotton among others.

Giving the break-up, he said paddy in over 1.32 lakh hectares, cotton in 3,000 hectares, sugarcane in 60 hectares and other crops in 500 hectares of land was damaged.
