A Communist Party of India-Marxist office was set ablaze in Jagatballavpur, Howrah, early today triggering tension in the locality.
The police said the CPI(M) branch office was gutted after unidentified miscreants set it on fire possibly at around 12-30 am.
Some cash stored in the office was also found to be taken away by the miscreants.
While the Left Front blamed "the Trinamool Congress-sheltered miscreants" for the attack, the police did not confirm the identity of the arsonists.
