CPI(M) today demanded a white paper on the land given to Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) for construction of a five-star hotel and other details regarding the sport body.

In a statement issued here, CPI(M) state secretariat member Tikender Panwar asked the Prem Kumar Dhumal government to stop showering "unnecessary benevolence on HPCA".

The government had been talking of resource crunch for developmental activities, but is giving unwanted concessions to the HPCA, he alleged.

The cricket association has virtually become a fiefdom of BJP and its youth front has got a boost from various corporate houses, especially the Jaypee group of companies, which sponsored their events in the state, Panwar claimed.

It has been done with the active intervention of the state government, he alleged. The construction a five-star hotel is not the mandate of HPCA and the details of the land lease should be made public, the CPI(M) leader said.
