Court rejects model Shweta Menon's anticipatory bail plea

A local court has rejected an anticipatory bail application of model Shweta Menon, accused of insulting the national flag at a fashion show in Rajasthan in 2004.

District judge HS Saxena cancelled her plea yesterday.

A case against Menon and local director of National Institute of Fashion Design (NIFD) Ashish Gupta was registered for allegedly insulting the tricolour during a fashion show on January 5, 2004.

The show was organised by NIFD at a resort, where Menon walked the ramp allegedly with the tricolour wrapped around her body.

According to Menon's advocate, Ashok Sharma, police has submitted a charge sheet against Gupta, but investigation against Menon was pending.
