Court issues warrant against two Naroda Patia case accused

The two accused, Yogesh alias Munna Shetty and Ravindra Chandra alias Bhaktiyo, have been issued warrants for not attending the court proceedings regularly.

The court of Jyotsnaben Yagnik has issued arrest warrants against two accused in the Naroda Patia case. The two accused, Yogesh alias Munna Shetty and Ravindra Chandra alias Bhaktiyo, have been issued warrants for not attending the court proceedings regularly.

The court has asked the two accused to appear before the court for the next hearing on August 10; charges are also likely to be filed in the Naroda Patia case on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the court has also asked the Sabarmati Central Jail authorities to produce Sachin Modi, accused of murder in the case.

This apart, the court has directed investigating officer VV Chaudhary to produce before the court all the accused in the case by 10.45 am on the day.

There are more than 70 accused in the Naroda Patia case, including former state minister Maya Kodnani and VHP leader Jaideep Patel, who were also present in the court. Earlier, a chargesheet was filed against Kodnani and Patel. The former has been charged with murder and conspiracy.

The charges are framed under various sections of the IPC like 120(B) for criminal conspiracy, 302 for murder and 307 for attempt to murder. The chargesheet says that Kodnani and Patel had led the mob during 2002 riots.
