According to director general of police, Gujarat State, SS Khandwawala almost all the 65,000 cops in the state will be on duty.
He said additional force from other states and central government will also help fortify the security cover on Tuesday.
The Rath Yatras in sensitive areas of Surat, Anand, Sabarkantha and Bhavnagar too have forced the police to deploy extra men for the big day.
The state government had asked for 20 companies of central paramilitary forces and five companies of State Reserved Police each from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
This means around 3,500 more cops have been called. Speaking on the sidelines of a press conference, Khandwawala told DNA that the prime concern of the state police is to secure all the yatras.
He said that the police are already checking hotels and other places. He said check posts have been put up at important destinations and entry points and those coming in and going out are being checked.
He said cops are also keeping an eye on history sheeters.
Khandwawala further said few cops have been trained in the Gujarat Anti Terrorists Squad Head Quarters to secure the Rath Yatra in the city, while police have also been told to carry out combing operation from July 8 to July 9.
Addressing the press conference, Khandwawala also said that, special efforts have been made to secure the Rath Yatras in communally sensitive areas like Nagoriwaad in Shahpur.
