Cops nab two vehicle thieves in Ahmedabad

Officials have started identifying areas from where the vehicles were stolen, and are tracking the owners.

The Detection of Crime Branch has nabbed two people in connection with vehicle thefts in the city and has seized 26 vehicles including bikes and scooters worth Rs10.40 lakh.

According to sources in the DCB, the police nabbed the two near Anjali crossroads, while they were on their way to some place on a stolen Hero Honda Passion bike.

"When they were asked about the vehicle, they failed to give a proper answer," a police source said. The two arrested have been identified as Rakesh Parmar(32), a resident of Shrinandnagar in Vejalpur and Purshottam Solanki(43), a resident of Dholka in Ahmedabad. The duo had stolen the bike from near Law Garden. 

Initial investigations have revealed that Parmar used to steal bikes and sell it to Solanki who would re-sell it to a third party at a very low price.

The police have seized 26 bikes from them and have also identified people who bought bikes from them. The police seized 18 Hero Honda Passion Plus bikes, seven Hero Honda Splendor Plus and one Honda Activa from the duo.

The DCB is further investigating the case and hopes to seize more vehicles from the two. Officials at DCB have started identifying areas from where the vehicles were stolen and are tracking the owners.
