Crime is on the rise in the jurisdiction of the Ellisbridge police and the cops seem to be struggling to not only contain the crimes but even solve the cases.

The police have so far failed to get a breakthrough in many of the high profile cases that happened in the Ellisbridge police's jurisdiction in the last one month. This includes the Paldi firing case, the bank loot case near Parimal Garden, the Avinash Patel suicide and murder case and the Vasant Gohil suicide case.

It even failed to arrest a youth, who had been caught by bystanders for attempting to rape a school girl. The failure of Ellisbridge police was apparent after the Avinash Patel suicide and murder case and the Vasant Gohil suicide case were transferred to Ahmedabad Crime Branch on Friday.

"We have received an official letter from the concerned agency and we will be investigating both the cases," deputy commissioner of police, crime branch, Abhay Chudasma told DNA.

The Ellisbridge police had earlier failed to crack the sensational loot of Rs61 lakh from the employees of the Progressive Mercantile Co-operative Bank near the Parimal Garden on the morning of June 11, 2009.

Four people fired at the employees of the bank and escaped with the cash.  The employees were on their way to deposit money in the main branch of the bank in Kalupur.

Apart from releasing the sketch of the accused, the cops have failed to get any headway in the case. Similarly, the police are yet to arrest Jagdish Kanga, who is accused of firing at police officials and injuring a person at Paldi near Ramji temple.

"A police complaint was filed and we have recorded some statements, but now the investigation has been transferred to crime branch," said assistant commissioner of police, 'A' division, VR Tolia.

In the latest incident, the Ellisbridge police failed to arrest a youth who was nabbed by bystanders for attempting to rape a teenage girl.

"We nabbed the youth, who was attempting to rape a school girl.  We took him to the police station but instead of arresting him they let him go," an eyewitness to the entire incident said.
Ellisbridge, PI HM Kundaliya is facing investigation for failing to arrest the youth who tried to rape the school girl inside Parimal Garden.

Police officers connected with the investigation on leave
Three officers of the Ellisbridge police station linked to important cases including the bank loot and Avinash Patel suicide and murder case are on leave. Senior police inspector, HM Kundaliya, joint commissioner of police, Mohan Jha, and deputy commissioner of police, Brijesh Jha will be proceeding on leave from Saturday.
