Four persons allegedly involved in the murder of a police constable posted as a security guard to chief minister's OSD were arrested from Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, a top state police officer said today.

Shiv Govind, Katwaru Singh, Rajiv Singh and Devendra Singh were arrested from Antadeeh village by a police team, additional director general of police (Law and Order) AK Jain told reporters here.

"The accused are being interrogated and we hope to crack the murder case soon," he said.

Constable Ramlal Gautam, 57, deployed in the security of CM's Officer on Special Duty (OSD) Chandra Prasad Bind, was shot dead by some unidentified persons Sunday night barely a few metres away from Mayawati's residence in Hazratganj area.

The attackers, before fleeing, took away Gautam's carbine and cartridges which were yet to be recovered.

Jain said Gautam's son Vijay Prakash had lodged an FIR naming seven persons, including the four, in connection with the murder.

The constable, a native of Azamgarh district, was shot in his right temple and was found lying in a pool of blood by the passers-by.
