Constable shot at, shooters flee with his motorcyle in MP

A head constable was shot at by three miscreants last night when he tried to stop them near Gayatri Mandir in Panna and later fled from the spot by snatching away the policeman's motorcycle.

The head constable identified as Dhan Prasad Gautam suffered pellet injuries in his shoulder and also minor head injury as they hit him with the rifle butt.

The miscreants identified as Happy alias Shailendra Awasthi, Pappu alias Bharat Valmiki and Rakku alias Rakesh Kushwaha who were travelling in a stolen car were stopped by the police two days back on the Katan-Saleha road following which they fled from the spot after leaving the vehicle there.

Last night, when Gautam spotted them near Gayatri Mandir, he tried to stop them following which they opened fire at him and also hit on his head with a rifle butt and fled from the spot by snatching away his motorcycle. Police have sounded alert and launched a hunt to nab them by enhancing vigil at the district border.
