Congress Working Committee poll to elect chief in Sept

Sonia Gandhi is expected to be re-elected Congress chief for the fourth consecutive term. Though the Congress Working Committee (CWC) has finalised September 17 for polling, the formality might be completed on September 2 itself, the last date for filing nominations, as there is no challenge to her leadership.

CWC met on Monday evening to finalise the schedule for the election. On September 17, the delegates of respective state units will meet to adopt resolutions authorising the Congress president to nominate state unit chiefs.
