Congress workers burn Mayawati effigy

Protesting against the arrest of party general secretary, Rahul Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh, Congress workers today burnt an effigy of Uttar Pradesh chief minister, Mayawati, at Mettupalayam in the district.
  
Raising slogans against Mayawati, the workers burnt the effigy about 40 km from here before they could prevent them, police said.
  
Gandhi was arrested yesterday for taking part in the farmers agitation against the Uttar Pradesh government's land acquisition process for an expressway project. He was released later.
