The Congress today lashed out at the opposition for disrupting the Parliament and pressing for an adjournment motion saying that in a democracy, problems are solved through debate and discussion and not through disruption.

"In a democracy, problems are solved through dialogue, discussion and debate, and not through disruption," party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told reporters in New Delhi.

Terming the adjournment of the Parliament for the day as unfortunate, he said that the people of the country were expecting that their problems will be discussed, debated and solved.

On the opposition's charge that the government was reducing the Parliament to a debating club by not allowing adjournment motions on the prices of LPG and kerosene, Ahmed said, "government is not shying away from any issue".

"If the opposition wants voting, there are various rules and regulations under which it can be done. The ruling of the presiding officers of both the houses is final on any issue," Ahmed said, adding "creating ruckus is not a healthy sign for democracy."
