The opposition Congress in MCD today claimed that the special sanitation-cum-cleanliness drive launched by MCD has suffered a setback at the beginning itself as many employees are on strike.

Jai Kishan Sharma, leader of the opposition in MCD, also claimed that there are neither brooms nor equipment and chemicals in stores of the sanitation department.

He alleged that due to financial mismanagement, large number of safai karmacharies have not received salaries for the last three to four months.

The cleanliness drive is "bound to fail", he said.
