Congress today criticised the Left-ruled Kerala government for politicising the visit of party general secretary Rahul Gandhi to the state recently saying his statements and tours deal with constructive issues.

"He (Gandhi) neither has time nor inclination to politicise issues as his opponents do. In his statements and tours, he deals with constructive issues," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.

Singhvi was reacting to questions that the state government was contemplating taking action against a tea shop and eating joint, where the young Gandhi had halted for a while, for allegedly flouting some norms.

Terming the action against the eating joint and the tea shop as "unfortunate", Singhvi said, "he (Gandhi) does things in a simple and natural manner. If the state government politicises simple things, it is most unfortunate. It is against the spirit of constructive politics".
