After successfully silencing YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, though for the time being, by appointing N Kiran Kumar Reddy as the new Andhra Pradesh chief minister, the Congress high command is now working on a strategy to overhaul the party structure in the state.

Though the Congress’s primary aim is to make YSR loyalists fall in line with the high command by endorsing the new chief minister as their leader, it is redrawing strategy mainly to keep the party intact ahead of the Justice Sri Krishna Committee’s report on statehood to Telangana. The report is expected on December 31.

The new CM is expected to go to Delhi to meet the high command on Saturday. The meeting would be to finalise the list of Congress leaders to be inducted into the cabinet.

After losing their positions as ministers following the resignation of previous CM K Rosaiah, the 32 members in his cabinet are busy lobbying in Delhi to retain their berths. The high command has so far shown no urgency in constituting the cabinet.
