While the government machinery in Jamnagar district is working overtime to ensure the all the arrangements for the chief minister’s fast are up to the mark, Congress and BJP are making all efforts to draw supporters at Dwarka on Sunday.
In protest against CM’s Sadbhavna fast, Congress’ Member of Parliament from Jamnagar Vikram Madam has decided to observe Satkarma fast at Dwarka, parallelly.

The administration is busy preparing the venue of the CM’s fast as it will be a state government function. Jamnagar district collector, Sandip Kumar said, “CM will be sitting for the fast at the venue prepared behind the circuit house at Dwarka. A platform has been erected on which 100 people would be joining him. Further, a special seating arrangement for 10,000 people who are expected to fast with the CM, has been made at the venue.” More than 20,000 people are expected to visit from the district.

An exhibition has been put up at the venue showcasing the achievements of  various state government departments on the theme of Panchamrut, which has been envisaged by the CM, added Kumar.

President of Gujarat BJP state unit, RC Faldu said, “This is a state government programme; BJP as a party has nothing much to do. However, we are receiving phone calls from various community groups, social leaders and religious organisations who want to join the fast. Some of the religious leaders would also be visiting the CM to bless him. People from all the communities, including Muslims, will be visiting the place.”

But Congress MP Vikram Madam has decided to observe Satkarma fast parallelly to Modi’s fast in Dwarka. Madam said, “I will observe Satkarma fast from morning to evening. I want to say that by just having Sadbhavna, no good is done, you should do Satkarma (good work) for people. There are 150 people’s issues pending in Jamnagar district. Why is the CM not solving
the issues?”

He alleged that the district administration is not cooperating with him. “I had applied for permission to hold the fast last Monday, but I received the approval only on Thursday,” he said. Moreover, he had not been given a convenient spot to fast or s single room in the circuit house, he added. But, he was confident that 15,000 to 30,000 people would come to support him.
