Senior Congress leader Aslam Sher Khan said here today that the current membership drive being conducted by the party across the country was totally transparent with no scope for any irregularities.

Aslam who is the chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Media Committee told PTI that he was saying this because for the first time all aspiring members of the Congress have to submit their photo identity and thus it would not be possible to enrol bogus members.

He said that of the two photos an aspiring member would need to submit, one would be attached to the membership form while the other would be kept for office records.

Aslam said that earlier members were not required to submit photos because of which there was possibility of enrolment of bogus members. He said that the new initiative had been taken at the instance of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.
