Congress leader demands Punjab assembly session to discuss flood situation

Congress leader Rajender Kaur Bhattal today demanded that a special session of Punjab assembly be convened to discuss the flood situation in the state.

"I have written a letter in this regard to the speaker," the leader of Opposition in the Punjab assembly told reporters in Jalandhar.

Claiming that the Punjab government had enough financial resources at its disposal, she said that the Centre should not provide any additional funds to the Badal government till it explains how it used the Rs800 crore given to it by the Centre for the welfare of the farmers.

"If the money is not spent it should be used to provide compenstaion to the affected farmers," she said.
