The Congress party has come down heavily on anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare’s associates.

“For a group that is supposed to be leading a movement for probity in public life, one does not know what that they are trying to achieve. One of them has called for a plebiscite in Kashmir, another has recovered expenses from NGOs that she has not incurred, and another who should be well versed with the protocol for government employees has directly shot off a letter to the prime minister,” said Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi.

Alvi called Arvind Kejriwal’s letter to PM, where he said he would pay the Rs9 lakh that ‘he owed to him’, an insult.  “This is an insult to the office of the prime minister. Such a letter was unnecessary. If he really wanted to pay the money, he should have sent the letter to his superior officer who would have then processed it as per the established procedure,” added Alvi.

Strongly objecting to Prashant Bhushan’s advocacy for plebiscite in Kashmir, Alvi said that if anyone from the Congress had voiced such an opinion the entire opposition would have created a veritable political storm.
