The Congress today ridiculed Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar for his call for 'war against corruption' blaming his government to allow officials to plunder public money during its first term and demanded probe in 'galloping rise' in real estate prices.

The chief minister should first act tough against his ministerial colleagues and the NDA MLAs whose assets and properties had recorded 200 to 600 per cent growth in the five years of the NDA rule, BPCC spokesperson Prem Chandra Mishra said in a statement here.

Mishra, who however promised Congress will cooperate if the state government pursued war against corruption, demanded a thorough probe into gallpoing rise in real estate prices in the state capital and ownership of apartments in the city.

"The chief minister's crusade against corruption will sound convincing only if he concedes that the vice had become rampant in the state during his government's first term", the BPCC chief said.

"If the chief minister seriously thinks about opening schools in the seized properties and land earned through corrupt means, then lakhs of such schools would be found functioning in Patna only," Mishra charged.
