Congress backs Nitish Kumar on criticism of Team Anna

Endorsing Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar’s criticism of Team Anna after it found fault with the Lok Ayukta bill passed by the state assembly, the Congress also reiterated the supremacy of the elected representatives in a democracy.

“We are in agreement with Nitish Kumar, as we accept the principle that in a democracy, the elected representatives are accountable to the people, and no outsider can dictate terms,” said party spokesperson Manish Tiwari.

The Congress also feels that when someone like Anna Hazare claims to be above the Parliament, it also does not go down well with the people.
